When you fail to see what you ask from God, you tend to think that the cause for not receiving your request lies between God and you. Most of the time, we start to have our own excuses for not receiving what we have asked for. Here are some of the most common excuses we may have regarding our unanswered supplications:
1. God has not given me what I prayed for because of my faults.
2. God has not given me what I prayed for because God does not give what we pray for nowadays even though the Scripture tells so
3. God has not given me what I prayed for because God does not love me
4. God has not given me what I prayed for because I have to work hard to receive from God
5. God has not given me what I prayed for because God does not give everybody as the Scripture tells
6. God has not given me what I prayed for because God does not exist.
Truly, our own excuses make us give up our hopes of receiving our supplications from God when we don't receive them as we expect. However, there can be only one reason for God not to give what we pray for. Guess what?
Yes, the only reason is that what we ask for is not according to the will of God. In other words, our request is against the Word of God. If you know the Word of God, you will never ask anything against it. If you have this knowledge, then you must receive what you ask from God without fail.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
(1John 5:14)
When we ask anything according to His will, God grants our request at the same moment we make our request. God never waits until you make several prayers asking for the same thing. If we think so, we do not receive by grace, but by our own deeds. As our deeds (continuous asking in this context) do not qualify us to receive anything from God. We are saved by brace through faith in Christ.
(Eph 2:8)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
So, we receive by the same grace through faith in Christ. Hence, there is no need to repeat in asking the same thing from God over and over again. Look at the below scripture:
(Mark 11:24)
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
According to the above verse, we have to operate in believing that we have received what we have asked for just after we make our request in the first place, instead of making the same request over and over again.
But why should we believe without receiving our need if God grants our request as soon as we ask?
Well, Believing Mode reveals the fact that there is always a time gap between the granting of our request by God and the manifestation of same in the physical realm. Truly, God never acts in contrary to His own Word. Hence, God grants what we pray for right at the time we bring it to God's presence. However, we have to believe without giving up until the manifestation of same in the physical realm.
Even though we are not supposed to ask again, what has already been asked, it is necessary to make mouth confessions in prayer that we are going to receive what we have prayed for. In these mouth confessions, we can quote scriptures that confirm our receiving. These mouth confessions help us to keep our focus on what we have asked for and to encourage ourselves without giving up. But these mouth confessions must not entertain any words that empower doubt about receiving our need. They must always be based on the belief that God has already granted our request.
The time taken for the manifestation of our request depends on our requests. For example, if your request is to get into the ministry of Gospel, it would take a considerable time for God to give you directions in ministering to people because the maturity in your relationship with God matters your request. But if your request is based on something relating to your finances or relationships, you would not experience an unusual delay in receiving what is asked for. For example, if you have decided to sell your house after having prayed for your decision over a period of time, there is no need for you to wait several years until a buyer comes.
Hence, it is important to know the reason for the delay in receiving what we have asked if you feel that your request has no reason to take such a long period of time. This kind of delay can always be caused by demonic influences. Principalities and powers in heavenly places can get hold of what God has released to us so that we never see the manifestation of such requests in the physical realm as long as we identify the root of the problem.
But, you might ask why God can't make sure that we receive what God has released for us eliminating demonic influences. But, you know, there are laws and principals set by God in the spiritual realm and physical realm. God Himself abides by these laws and principles in discipline to God's own Power even if God has the capacity to break any laws and principles and act against them.
The Scripture proves that even Jesus could not perform miracles against these principles. For example, Jesus could not perform many miracles in his hometown (Nazereth) because of the unbelief of the people lived there. God's power for a miracle can easily be hindered by unbelief. Unbelief always empowers demons to work against the manifestation of our request in the physical realm. That is the main reason we fail to see our requests never come to manifestation as we quit believing that God has granted our requests.
Even when we believe, there can be spiritual forces blocking what God has already released for us in response to our request. Daniel prayed for the understanding of a long duration that would take for the fulfillment of a vision given to him. It took three weeks for him to receive the answer from God. But God has answered Daniel's prayer right on the first day he prayed about it. Look at the below scriptures to understand why it took 21 days (three weeks) for Daniel to receive what God had already released for him in response to his prayer:
(Dan 10:10-13)
And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
In the above passage of Scripture, we read about two princes. The first prince is the prince of the kingdom of Persia. This is the demonic spirit who was in charge of the geographical area covering the kingdom of Persia. These princes are referred to as 'principalities and powers in heavenly place' by St. Paul.
The other prince, Michael is a Holy Angel as you know, who is always released by God to attack Satan and his spiritual forces.
Daniel did not have any revelation of the reason which caused the delay as he had no authority to fight against these demonic forces. But we, in the New Testament have the authority to fight against these demonic forces. Hence, today, when our blessings are hindered by these demonic powers, we have to fight against them. This is a set rule for the people in the New Testament and God would not intervene bypassing His own principles.
But, we do not know the right words to speak against these spiritual forces in our battle against them. So, what is the solution given by God?
If we don't know how to pray to release these hindrances caused by devils, we have to resort to prayer in spirit. In other words, we must get our spirit to intercede on our behalf to fight against these unseen forces. This method is also called 'GROANING IN THE SPIRIT'. Look at the below verse:
(Rom 8:26)
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
How do you groan in the spirit?
