Blessings from God

We all need to be blessed by the Lord. Blessings coming to us from the Lord fall into two categories namely 'SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS' and 'MATERIAL BLESSINGS'. Every one of us should be blessed spiritually and materially.

We make various requests in prayer before God for these blessings. Although it is the desire of the Lord to bless everybody equally, obviously, we see that blessings do not fall on everybody equally. For instance, there can be two persons who pray for a car, but at last one might receive a car, but the other might end up with a motorbike.

Mainly, there are two reasons for not receiving what we pray for:

         1. What we pray for is not falling within the will of God.
1 John 5:14
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us

How do we know what we pray for is within the will of God?

Well, the Word of God reveals the Will of God. Those who know the Word of God know the Will of  God and they know how to ask everything in accordance with the Word of God.
           2. We are not worthy enough to receive what we pray for at the moment we make the request.

Most of the time, many do not receive what they pray for as their current spiritual growth is not up to the standard in order to receive what is asked for. It is just like a child, who can ride only tricycles, asking for a motorbike.

Many believe that God exists for man to receive blessings from Him. But the truth is man exists for God to bless him.

What is the difference between these two statements?

Well, those who think that God exists for them to receive blessings, remember God, only when they want blessings. These are the people who search the Hands of God to receive only blessings. They are not worried about what they should do to please God in order to be blessed. These are the people who ask God every morning in His presence - 'Oh Lord, what are you going to give me today?'.

But those who think that they exist for God to bless them always put themselves right before God in order to be blessed. These are the people who search the Face of God to receive His love. These are the people who always ask God every morning in His presence - 'Oh Lord, what do you want me to do for You today?'.
