Children of God & Friends of God

In the world, generally, parents love children more than their friends. But God does the other way.

The Bible reveals that God does not have many friends although God has many Children. 

In the Bible, Abraham is the first person, whom God called by the name 'FRIEND'.
Isaiah 41:8
8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

What is the advantage of being a Friend of God rather than a Child of God?

Well, without being a Child of God, we cannot be a Friend of God. When a Child of God becomes a Friend of God, God speaks to him face to face or mouth to mouth. Look at the below scripture:
Exodus 33:11
11 And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
 
Hearing the voice of God is very easy for Friends of God. Even God's Friends in the New Testament can hear from God in audible voice through the Holy Spirit as they hear from other humans. They can commune with God as and when they want. In other words, God is real in their life all the time.


However, God does not speak to Children of God in this manner. God uses various other channels to speak to them. For example, God may use the Word of God (the Bible), the method of Urim and Thumim (method of speaking to the spirit through emotions that give the idea of Yes & No), dreams, visions, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, journaling, angles and so on. 

Can everybody become a Friend of God?

Yes, Of course! All we need to do is to build a very, very intimate, personal, love relationship with God. Over night, we cannot do it. We have to pay a big price to win the heart of God. God always severely tests or tries those whom God wants to make as His Friends.

When we are tested, if we can prove ourselves that we can face them and win, God would call us to be His Friends. Friends of God always receive higher calling from God for the ministry. They are usually called to be Prophets of God - (the second rank in the five fold ministry). Prophets are the people who hear from God for other people. The are the voice of God for the church. What a blessing to be a prophet of God!
