Luke 4:4
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
How long can a human being stay without food?
We
read in the Book of Esther that Esther and her people, the Jews fasted
for three days and three nights without food and water.
Esther 4:15-16
15 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day:
This is not something easy. Specially, fasting even without water would be quite difficult.
But
before Esther, there was a great man, who stayed without food and water
not only for three days and three nights, but for forty days and forty
nights. Who is this great man?
Exodus 24:18And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
Yes, he is Moses. When Moses was going to the peak of mount Sinai to meet with God Almighty, do we see him carrying any food or water with him? But many of us have missed this 40 days of Moses, staying without food and water as the Bible does not use the term 'FASTING' here.
We
read in the New Testament that Jesus was on fasting for 40 days and
forty nights when he was led by the Holy Spirit to the wilderness to be
tempted by satan just after He was baptized by John the Baptist.
Matthew 4:1-2
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
The above scripture reals that at the end of this 40 days' of fasting, even the Son of God felt hungry.
But we never see Moses was hungry when he was coming down from the
mount Sinai with the two tablets of stone on which God had written 10
commandments. The Bible never says that Moses was hungry even after he
came down the mountain to the children of Israel.
Why does the Bible not use the word 'FASTING' to describe the period of 40 days of Moses' stay on the mount Sinai?
Whey does the Bible not say that Moses was hungry after he spent forty days and forty nights without food or water on top of mount Sinai?
Before
we consider the answers to the above questions, let's see why we feel
hungry and become physically weak when we stay without food and water.
We know that we need energy in our blood circulation for us to keep us
physically fit. It is the food that we take to our bodies, is converted
into this energy. We consume this energy received from the food taken,
for our day today work.
However the scripture says this energy conversion could be done by using the Word of God (RHEMA) as well. Look at the opening scripture. 'RHEMA' which means 'Word Spoken' is the Hebrew word used for 'WORD' in the opening scripture (Luke 4:4). In the sense, every RHEMA coming
out of the mouth of God has the power to transmit the same energy to
our physical bodies which we normally receive from food and water.
Now
let's consider Adam. Being the first man created by God, when he opened
his physical eyes to see the physical world for the first time, he was a
fully grown man. But when he opened his eyes, he was not hungry even though he had not received any food by being inside a mother's womb.
Then how could Adam got up to his feet without any food inside his physical body?
Yes, it was 'RHEMA' that came out from the mouth of the Living God, that had transmitted 'ENERGY' into his blood circulation system as Adam was raised within the Glory of God Almighty.
Well, now we understand what happened to Moses. The truth is that Moses did not fast a single day when he was on mount Sinai.
He was talking with God Almighty face to face for forty days and forty
nights. Every single word that came out of God during this
conversation, could transmit the energy into the blood circulation
system of Moses since Moses had been covered inside the Glory of God Almighty. That is why the word 'FASTING' is not used in the Bible to explain 40 day period of Moses' stay without food and water on mount Sinai.
However, Jesus felt hungry at the end of 40 days as he did not receive 'REHMA' from the mouth of His Own Father when He was in the wilderness to be tempted by satan. In other words, Jesus was without the Glory of the Father.
That is why we read in 2 Corinthians 8:9 that Jesus became poor in
order that we become rich through his poverty. Yes, my friends, Christ
became poor in Glory of the Father God, which He had enjoyed when He was
with the Father in Heaven.
Now,
let's look at those Christians who talk about the connection between
the nutrients in the food we take in and our physical health. They say
we have to take nutritious food to keep us healthy all the time. They
say that food is too heat and other food is too cold. They say this food
gives us that sickness and that food gives us this sickness. They say
we all are getting sick very easily because of the chemicals that are
mixed with the food. What nonsense?
All
this stuff they say is true for the people in the world as they are
subject to the elements of the world. But we read in 2 Corinthians 5:17
that we are new creations in Christ. Those who are born of Christ are
not subject to the elements of this world and therefore they are not
governed by them. We never say they do not govern the people in the
world, but born again Christians are not subject to the existing elements of the earth.
Like
Moses, if we spend quality time in the presence of God, even today we
can experience the Glory of God within which we could receive 'RHEMA',
which would transmit energy into our blood circulation system. Such
people who spend long hours in the presence of God experience a
life-time healing within their mortal bodies. In other words, they never get sick even single day of their life.
Let's receive the energy to our blood circulation systems from 'REHMA'
that comes out of mouth of the Living God, like Moses, by spending
quality time in the presence of God so that we do not depend on the
energy in poisonous food that we take to our physical bodies for our physical health.
