God loves us so much that God does not want any of us to miss even a single blessing that has been hidden in Jesus Christ. Thus, God made the minimum size of the faith required for the power of healing to flow through or any other miracle whatsoever to take place, as small as a grain of mustard seed. Jesus reveals this minimum requirement of faith to receive a miracle in Matthew 17:20.
(Mat 17:20)
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Thus, Jesus used small amounts of faith manifested in many sick people for the power of healing to flow through to their bodies in order that they could recover. These small amounts of faith are relatively less stronger than Active Faith, and therefore they can be classified as Passive Faith.
PASSIVE FAITH
Let's look at a story from the Word of God to understand how Passive Faith helped the sick to receive their healing.(John 9:1-7)
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
Whose faith did Jesus use to heal the above blind man???
Truly, the blind man was in sound mind. Hence, the blind man should manifest his own faith to receive healing. However, he never made a request to Jesus Christ for the healing.
Jesus never healed a sick person without a request (either from the sick person or some other person when the sick was out of mind to make the request). Why? because faith was to be manifested through the request. Thus, although Jesus Christ was the Son of God, even He operated under the same law of healing whenever He wanted to heal someone.
Nevertheless, Jesus Christ wanted to heal this blind man for the glory of God. Hence, Jesus used a very strange method to take some kind of little faith (PASSIVE FAITH) out of the blind man. What is this strange method?
Jesus applied some mud made using His spittle, on the blind eyes and told the man to go to the pool of Siloam, which was far away from the place where the blind man was and wash his eyes. Many people think that the mud on the blind eyes reacted as some kind of medicine to heal the blind eyes of this man. If that were so, even today, the same method would have been used for healing. Jesus has never taught His disciples about such medicines for healing the sick. Peter even rose the dead, but still never used any substance as medicines for bringing healing to the sick.
Truly, the blind man was manifesting his own faith during his journey towards the pool of Siloam because until he washed his eyes from the pool, he had not recovered. His journey was counted as His Faith. Why? because he made it in believing that he would recover his eyesight. As such, the moment, he accomplished the faith in action, the power of healing was released from Jesus Christ to the blind man and then he recovered. Of course, the mud Jesus applied on his eyes had nothing to heal the blind eyes, but caused him to manifest 'PASSIVE FAITH' for the power of healing to flow through.
