Funeral Weddings
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.28 And God blessed them,...
I received an invitation to sign in witness to the marriage of my sister-in-law at a wedding mass held at a church belonging to a particular denomination. In fact, I received this invitation about two or three months before the wedding date. At first, I asked them to find a more suitable person for this important event, but as they insisted, I finally agreed.
But, just one day before the wedding, the Lord revealed me that this wedding was going to be a funeral wedding. What does this mean?
Well, the wedding mass was scheduled to be at 4.00 pm. The reason to have the wedding mass at this time was fully based on worldly reasons.
These are the reasons:
1. They wanted to take photographs of the couple before they would come to the church as they did not want the invitees to the wedding mass to spoil their make-up before taking photographs.
2. They wanted to have enough time for the dressing-up. If they had the wedding mass in the morning, they could not have enough time for make-ups and other paintings and touch-ups.
3. They wanted to have the crowd for a dinner rather than for a lunch as they thought it would be nicer to have the party at night rather than in day time.
Now, according to the arrangements, the couple were to receive the blessings of God, their Creator, even after they had posed themselves for the photos as an already-married couple. The most important thing in the whole event had been kept back to the evening hours because they had given priority for their worldly pleasures.
A few weeks before the wedding, the grandfather of my sister-in-law (the bride) died of old age. His funeral mass was held in the same church around the same time. The Holy Spirit revealed me this wedding mass as a funeral mass. When the sun was going down, the couple came to the presence of God in order to receive blessings from God.
My dear friends, we must not be mistaken by the thought that God exists to bless us. In fact, we exists for God to bless us. What is the difference?
Well, when we say, 'we exist', that means 'living for God, by making Him the most priority in our life'. When we exist for God in this manner, God would bless us. But, for many people today, God is just like an ambulance for them to call upon in times of emergency.
The opening scripture reveals that soon after God created MALE ADAM AND FEMALE ADAM on earth on the 6th day of Creation, God blessed them. What does this mean?
Man needs God's blessings in the first place of every occasion in his life. We should not forget that our God is a jealous God, Who does not want the honour, glory and praise, which are due for Him, to be shared with anyone else as He is the Only One, who is worthy of all honour, glory and praise from His own Creation.
The most interest part of the story is this...
On the day of the wedding, before I left my home, I knelt down before God and said, "Oh, Lord, I would not have made this decision if you had revealed these facts well before the wedding date."
Now guess what happened at the wedding mass.
I came to the wedding mass at the scheduled time and was in readiness in the church to become the witness from the bride's side. But, I got an emergency call to go out of the church for a moment, as I had been wanted to attend to another urgent matter, which was also related to the wedding ceremony. By the time, I got back to the church, somebody else had signed in witness to the bride as I was not available at the right moment.
My dear friends, God is neither early nor late for any matter, at the moment we are willing to make the right choice.
