Job's Hedge

(Job 1:8-10)
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

If you look at the above passage of the Scripture, you can understand that Satan could touch neither Job nor anything that belonged to Job because of THE HEDGE God had put around Job and everything that belonged to Job. However, when God wanted to allow Satan to test Job, God removed this hedge God had put around everything that belonged to him. But God did not remove the hedge that He had put around Job. You might think how then Satan afflicted Job to the point of death.

Well, Truly God did not remove the hedge around Job, instead God changed the boundary of the hedge up to the point that it could cover only the LIFE of Job. In other words, Satan could afflict Job in any manner, but he could not destroy the life of Job because of the hedge that was around it.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

What was the secret of Job that had caused God to put a hedge around him and everything that belonged to him so that Statan could not touch Job or anything that belonged to Job with evil?

The secret is this. Job had reached the perfection in two  things.

1. The Fear of God
2. Departing from Evil(Job 1:1)
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

This is the testimony of Job, God put even before Satan in the opening scripture.

Dear friends, the same hedge God had put around Job and Job's belogings, has been put around you and me. But still we find Satan attacking many of us today. Why???

Well, look at Job. At what point could Satan attack Job's belongings?

Yes, it was the moment that God removed the hedge around his belongings.

At what point, Satan could afflict Job except Job's own life?

It was the moment God reduced the boundary of the hedge around Job up to the point it could cover only Job's life.

Today,  the reason why Satan could touch our belongings is that God has not put a hedge around them. We find sometimes Satan touching our health by attacking us with diseases. Why? because God has not put a hedge covering our health.  However we find that our life is still not destroyed in the midst of these afflictions of the devil, that is because God has put a hedge around our life

It was the day that we believed in Christ that God put this hedge covering our life. If not, Satan would wipe out the life of every human right on the day they receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Job received God's hedge because of his perfection in the fear of God and in departing from evil. However we received our hedge around our life because of the righteousness of God, that Jesus Christ placed in us by taking our sin into His body.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:

However, many of us find their bodies under the attack of the devil despite the hedge God has placed. Truly the reason for this is the boundary of the hedge God has placed around them is not sufficient to cover them from all afflictions of the devil. Remember, it is our responsibility to get God to expand the boundary of the hedge around us up to the point that Satan cannot touch not only our life, but also our health.

So, how do we cause God to do this?

Well, We have to do nothing special, but the same thing Job did in the Old Testament. Every one of us should journey towards the perfection in the fear of God, departing from all evil. There is a saying that goes as ' Nobody is perfect in this world'. Well, but this does not mean that we should not strive to be perfect. Truly, nobody is perfect, but every one should be on their journey towards perfection. Here the perfection we are talking about is not on the Worldly Matters, but the perfection in the fear of God and in departing from all evil.

When we grow in this perfection day by day, we become free from the afflictions of the devil. We start to experience continuous healing in our body. This is the first evidence we can have to say that God has expanded the hedge around us.

However, while going through this experience of healing, you might notice how the devil is still attacking everything that belongs to us including our loved ones. You may find you are financially attacked. You may find your relationships are attacked. You may find that your future plans are attacked. Sometimes, you might notice that these afflictions are more sever than before you started to experience healing in your body. Why???

The devil knows if you grow in the fear of God, by departing from evil, God would expand your hedge day by day until it covers you and everything that belongs to you just like the way God did for Job. So, now Satan is more active than never before in order to cause you to stop your journey towards perfection in the fear of God and departing from evil.

Don't be deceived by the devil. Continue your journey towards the perfection until we come to the point Job had reached. At this point, surely God would put a hedge around us and everything that belongs to us.

But, unfortunately, today, many are losing even the hedge that they have received on the day of their salvation, which could just cover their life.

So, let's grow in the perfection in the fear of God by departing from all evil so that God can cover us with the same hedge that He covered Job.
