How do you look at God?
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
King David has used the following seven different names for God in the above single bible verse.
1. ROCK
2. FORTRESS
3. DELIVERER
4. STRENGTH
5. BUCKLER
6. HORN OF SALVATION
7. HIGH TOWER
In other words, these seven names can be referred to as seven different ways King David looked at God. God is the same God and He never changes. However, the same God appears to us differently according to the way we look at Him. For instance, if you look at God as your Shepherd and depend on God for your day-to-day material needs, God appears to you as your Good Shepherd. If you look at God as your Divine Physician and depend on God for your health whenever you are in sickness, God appears to you as your Divine Healer. In brief, God can appear to you as anyone in your life in any way you look at Him. In the same way, it is not possible for God to appear to you as anyone in the way you refuse to look at Him.
But unfortunately, today, many of us look at God for the benefits of Heaven and for the deliverance from Hell. In the sense, for many, God is only the deliver from Hell by taking them to Heaven at their death. Thus, they limit God to someone who can bless them after their death. In fact, this is the fundamental benefit of salvation in Christ. But Jesus Christ has given the salvation as a package of blessings which we can enjoy in this world and in the world to come. But in reality, the majority enjoy only the fundamental benefits of salvation.
Here is a good example. Let's say, one husband buys his wife a very hi-tech cellular phone which has almost all the features the modern technology has introduced. However, she is using the phone only for giving a call and receiving a call. Giving and receiving calls is the fundamental benefit of a cellular phone. But this expensive phone has come with many features as a package. It is not worth for a husband to spend so much of money to buy such a hi-tech cellular phone for a wife who is not fully benefited by them. However, as this husband loves his wife so much that he did not want to buy her a simple old-fashioned phone which would cost much less.
Why does the wife in the above example not get the real benefit of her hi-tech cellular phone gifted to her by her husband???
The main reason is her ignorance. She does not know how to operate the phone for enjoying these useful features. But the real truth is her husband is willing to teach her on how to use all the features of the phone, but she is not willing to listen. She has her own excuses for not wanting to learn from her husband. She might say she does not want them as they are too complicated for her or she might say that she is too busy with other work that she has no time to learn.
But you know what? the wife is suffering most of the time in her day-to-day work by adopting her traditional methods whereas her phone could have helped her with its special features by making her life easy. For example, a modern phone facilitates To-Do Lists which keeps you on the track all the time so that you would not miss any work that you want to do during the day. If this wife is so absent-minded and worried at the end of each day by forgetting to do many of the important work of the day, she could have used To-Do List feature along with Reminder feature in her phone to avoid this problem.
My dear friends, Jesus Christ has already paid the price of salvation. But He had paid more than the cost. The Lord has offered our salvation as a package of all the blessings. You name anything, that is included in this package. Nevertheless, It is totally up to you to avail the full benefits of your salvation. Jesus loves you so much that he has paid more than the cost to buy this salvation, so that which could come as a package of all the blessings to be enjoyed in both worlds, The Lord has offered it to you and me although we are not fully benefited by them. We suffer most of the time because of our ignorance. Truly, we are not fully benefited by the riches in Christ .
(Hosea 4:6)
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge...
But the good news is that the Lord is ready to teach us. He is waiting until we are ready to listen. The Lord has brought us a teacher to be in us and with us so that we can learn from Him.
(John 14:26)
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
If you are ready to listen to the mild voice of this teacher, truly He is going to teach you. You need not any other teacher, but He would teach you of all things giving you revelation knowledge of all the riches hidden in Christ for you to enjoy in this world and in the world to come.
(1John2:27)
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
