Well, there are two ways that a sick person fails to manifest Active Faith:
1. When the sick person is out of mind due to sickness
2. When the sick person lacks the understanding
When the sick person is out of mind due to sickness, the faith of someone else who is related to the sick person can be used for the power of healing to flow through to the sick person. Let's look at a story from the Word of God where Jesus used this kind of faith to bring healing to a sick person.
(Matthew 8:5-10)
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
The above story shows Active Faith of a master on behalf of his servant, who is severely sick. Jesus could use this faith of the master to send the power of healing to the sick person on the bed as the sick person was not in a position to manifest faith in order to receive healing. We read in the13th verse in the same chapter, how the servant was healed.
(Matthew 8:13)
And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
Here is another story where Active Faith of a group of people who were in agreement for the healing of a sick person was used by Jesus Christ to release the power of healing to the sick person.
(Mark 2:1-5)
And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
According to the above story, this man was sick of palsy because of his sins. In other words, because of his sins, Satan was empowered to attack him with sickness - palsy. Under such circumstances, the person who has committed sins should repent and confess his sins in order to receive forgiveness and thereafter healing. But the 5th verse of the above scripture passage shows that Jesus simply forgave the sins of the sick person based on the Active Faith manifested by the people of the sick person. When the sins were forgiven, the power of healing could start to flow through the Active Faith of the people to the sick person.
This story further reveals the fact that FAITH is used to sanctify a person by cancelling his or her sins. On the day we received salvation, our sins were forgiven based on our faith and saved by grace (not by deeds).
(Eph 2:8)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Thus we realize how important FAITH is where HEALING is concerned.
In Mark 2:11-12, we read how Jesus speaks the word, which releases the power of healing to flow through the Active Faith of the people to the sick person
(Mar 2:11-12)
I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
However, when a sick person has a sound mind to manifest Active Faith, but still fails to do so because of unbelief based on the lack of understanding, Active Faith of other people cannot be used simply because the power of healing flowing through the Active Faith of other people is hindered by the Unbelief of the sick person to perform the miracle.
WHAT IS GOING TO HELP THE SICK WITH SOUND MIND, BUT FAILING TO MANIFEST ACTIVE FAITH?
