Matthew 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Why
does Jesus say in the opening scripture that many false prophets rise in the last days?
Well, it is because
only in the last days, God raises many of His true prophets in the land.
Joel 2:28
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
In order to confuse the people of God, satan too would raise false prophets and scatter them among true prophets sent by God.
Since we have come to the last days, God would raise many true prophets
in the land in this season. Many would call them false prophets as they
know only the famous bible verse that says 'In the last days, false prophets
are coming'
Then, how do we identify a true prophet?
The above is a very important question as today there are many lying spirits working through people around us in trying to rob our salvation which we are supposed to preserve with fear and trembling.
Philippians 2:12
...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
In
the beginning, the Bible says that the serpent was more subtle than any
other in the garden of Eden. He is the same even today. Even when the
right people arise in the Lord, the enemy raises his own people to
condemn them by quoting the Scripture itself. For example, when the Lord
raises a right prophet among us in the present time, the deceiver can
quote the opening scripture and deny him.
Just because Jesus says that false prophets arise in the last days, can this be true of every prophet in the land? If so, Jesus would have said that there would be no prophets from God at all, that we would receive during the last days and therefore whoever rises as a prophet, is a false prophet.
No, Jesus never said so. Jesus warned us of false prophets as there are false prophets among the right prophets sent by God.
If
we try to judge a prophet by his signs and wonders, we are badly
mistaken as Jesus clearly says in the opening scripture that even false
prophets come out with signs and wonders.
The Scripture itself tells us on how to identify a false prophet.
Matthew 7:15-16
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Well, according to the above scripture, false prophets could be identified by their fruits. However, now again another question might arise in recognizing the right fruits. How do we recognize right fruits?
Yes, this is where our knowledge of the Scripture plays the biggest role because we cannot say every prophet is a false prophet only by studying one bible verse. We all should know scriptures very well if we are to make the right judgment concerning a prophet among us.
A
true prophet would neither say nor do anything which is contrary to the
Word of God. But the enemy would not continue in this manner. Somehow
or other he would show his true nature. If we are in the Spirit, we can
identify the devil working through a man as soon as he shows his nature
by his deeds, which never be in agreement with the Word of God.
Therefore,
it is high time to take the Bible to our hands and open it in order to
see what is truly mentioned in it. So far, we have been listening to
what our spiritual leaders were preaching. But this is not enough.
We must know the facts for ourselves. If we do not do this, God would
not intervene when we get caught to the snares of the devil by believing
his lies as we are already given the Word.
Very soon we are
entering into a season where we have to make bold judgements concerning
our own spiritual leaders who have been misleading us so far because
many have not operated within the boundaries of the given doctrines. So far we have not been bold to judge these false teachers as we know only one famous bible verse regarding 'judging' that says 'Do not judge others'.
When we open our Bible and start to read it, soon we will come to know that judging those within the church is our sole responsibility though we are not supposed to judge those who are in the world.
1 Corinthians 6:2-4
2 Do
ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world
shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
Let's
grow in our knowledge of the Word of God daily so that we would not
reject true prophets when God send them to the land in the days to come.
Let's
not be scared to be against those who operate in contrary to the Word
of God as our voice against them would be something pleasing unto the Lord.
