 Promises Vs. Conditions

1 John 3:22
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

In John 14:14, Jesus has promised to give us whatever we ask in his name. But we should not forget that all the promises in the Bible are conditional.

For us to inherit promises, there are conditions to fulfill. These conditions can also be regarded as a kind of price to be paid.

Today, many Christians just utter promises in the Bible when they pray for their needs. But the experience of many, who quote promises is that these promises are mere words written in the Bible, but cannot be practically achieved.

Before we ask something, we need to know the commandments governing it and check whether we keep them. This is where reading the Bible on a daily basis becomes vital as only those who read the Bible shall know His commandments.

So, let's start reading the Bible on a daily basis if we have not started it so far. But remember that if we are really serious about the Word of God, there are three processes to be done with regard to the Word of God - the Bible:

                                               1. Reading
                                               2. Studying
                                               3. Meditating

Many Christians have no experience in the 3rd process mentioned above. In Psalms 119:99, king David says that he has more understanding
about the Word of God than his teachers  as he is meditating upon it. Yes, even teachers miss it...

Meditating gives us something called 'REVELATIONS'. Those who meditate the Word of God know what I mean.
