 Who controls your mind?

Who can control your mind? Yes, you think it is always YOU. But the Word of God reveals that it is not always true.

However, right in the beginning, God gave man the freewill. The freewill allows man to make his own decisions based on his own thoughts spring up in his mind. God knows every thought that springs up in the mind of man before man puts these thoughts into action. God reserves this right  with Himself although God has given the freewill to man.

However, there is one thing in freewill over which even God has not reserved power. Guess what?

Well, God does not reserve the power to know thoughts of man before they spring up in the mind. I know sometimes, you may not agree with me at this point. But, I can show you many scriptures to prove that God does not know thoughts of man before they hit their mind. Here are the scriptures:

(Gen 2:16-17)

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

The above scripture reveals the fact that God has given the option for man to eat or not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

What does this mean?

It means that God Himself was not aware of the reaction of man to God's commandment as God had given the freewill to man.

Let's see how God tested Abraham's thoughts. Look at the below scriptures:
(Gen 22:10-12)
And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
God is not aware of thoughts that would spring up in the center of the mind of man under different circumstances. Thoughts that spring up in the mind vary drastically based on circumstances. God knows that Abraham fears God based on the thoughts that spring up in the mind of Abraham under normal circumstances. Now God wanted to test Abraham whether he maintains the same fear of God under very difficult circumstances. This is where Testing of God comes into play.

When we read the above scriptures we understand that God finally comes to the conclusion that Abraham really fears God after God tested the thoughts that sprang up in the mind of Abraham under the circumstance of offering his only son to the Lord.

Now, look at Moses. When he was first called for the mission of bringing the Children of Israel to the promised land of Canaan, he refused to accept it to the face of God. God tried to convince Moses several times. But still Moses was asking questions and giving many excuses. Finally the anger of God was kindled against Moses.
(Exodus 4:14)
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

As a result, God was about to kill Moses on his way to meet his brother, Aaron.
(Exo 4:24)
And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
But you know how God became a friend of Moses speaking to him face to face when he was taking the Children of Israel through the wilderness. Look at the below scriptures:
(Num 12:5-8)
And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
The above scripture reveals that Moses has changed his attitude after he took up the mission given to him by God. When God was about to kill Moses, God was not aware of this change that would result in Moses by the thoughts which sprang up in the mind of Moses at a latter time.

Look at the journey of the Children of Israel from Egypt to Canaan - the promised land. When God was taking the Children of Israel out of Egypt, God looked at them as God looked at Abraham. But you know what happened on the way. What does this mean?

Yes, God was not aware of the thoughts that would spring up in the minds of the Children of Israel when they were taken through the wilderness under very difficult circumstances.

I can give many more examples from the scriptures to prove the point that God is not ware of our thoughts that spring up in our minds. If God knew them, of course, God has not given the freewill to  man. In other words, this is the nature of the freewill. But God gave the freewill to man out of God's freewill.

Why did God give the freewill to man out of God's freewill?

It is because God wanted man to obey God out of his own thoughts.

Nevertheless, as I have mentioned above, God has reserved the power to know every single thought after it springs up in the mind. Hence, God knows every action of man before he does it as every action is based on a thought in the mind. What is the outcome?

Yes, as God knows before man acts, God has the divine power to control every action of man if God really wants to.

Now I will tell you the best part of the mind. God can get the man to do whatever God wants, by generating God's thoughts in the mind of man. Man is not aware of this miracle when it takes place in his own mind. At this juncture, man just acts based on the thoughts God has put in his mind just like a robot.

When does God use this divine power to control the actions of man???

Well, in the past, God has used this divine power in the minds of people in order to get His own mission accomplished. Here are two good examples:
(Exodus 10:1)And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:
(Josua 11:18-20)
Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.

However, it does not seem that God controls the mind of man in order that man loves God by keeping His commandments as a robot. God always wants man to do this out of his own freewill and this is the main objective of the freewill.

Now we must not forget that apart from God, there is another one who has the power (subject to the power of God) to control the mind of man by putting various thoughts in it. Who is he???

Yes he is Satan or the devil. Look at the below scripture:

(John 13:2)

And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

Based on the above explanation, we can come to the conclusion that there are three ways altogether that man can have a thought in his mind:

1. out of his own freewill
2. by God
3. by Satan

Unfortunately, man identifies his thoughts as coming out of his own freewill all the time. But for God's people (Christians), there is a good prayer to make before God every morning in order to protect their minds from their own thoughts and thoughts of the devil that would tempt them to commit any sins before God. Here is the prayer:

"Oh, my Lord, now I am sacrificing my freewill to you out of my own freewill. My Lord, please control my mind by putting thy divine thoughts in it all the time.
I ask you to do this as I do know that every sin is based on a thought in mind.  When my mind is fully controlled by You, by filling it with Your divine thoughts, I shall be totally free from sins. I shall be totally free from all evil thoughts of the devil. Amen!"
