Without Authority

Matthews 10:1
1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

The above scripture shows how Jesus gave the 12 apostles authority to preach the gospel for the first time after the apostles had followed Jesus for a period of time.

Even though this period of time is not mentioned in the Bible, we can assume that they would have followed Jesus at least one year by the time they were sent out for this ministry.

We also read in Luke 10:1-16 how Jesus sent another 70 disciples for preaching the gospel at a latter time after the apostles were sent. Even these disciples had followed Jesus for a period of time before they were appointed for this ministry.

When we read the Word of God, we understand that Jesus sent His apostles and disciples for preaching the gospel with authority.  This authority is the same to both groups even though they were sent out at two different occasions.

Under the authority Jesus gave to His apostles and disciples, they received the powers to do the following acts:

           1. Heal the sick
           2. Cast out the devils

The following verses show the powers given to 70 disciples under this authority to perform the above two tasks.

Luke 10:9
9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
Luke 10:18-19
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Even today, anybody, who wants to preach the gospel has to go through the same process. At the beginning, we have to follow Jesus for a period of time. During this period, we are not given any authority to perform the gospel ministry, but He teaches us and makes us and molds us, through a sanctification process.

Then, at the end of this period, He calls us by our names and gives us the authority to heal the sick and cast out the devils. When we are on the job, even the Holy Spirit imparts many other gifts (1 Corinthians 12:8-10) to us by making the job more easy.

Under this authority, we are given powers to carry out the healing ministry and the ministry of deliverance. Through these two ministries, new souls are receiving salvation by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal saviour.

After they receive salvation,  these new souls are guided to the perfection in Christ under the teaching ministry (teaching the Word of God). This teaching ministry is given to us through the Holy Spirit with many revelations.

Altogether, we find three kinds of ministries in the work of the gospel

1. Healing Ministry
2. Deliverance Ministry
3. Teaching Ministry

Today, the nominal church (the traditional church) does the teaching ministry only. Since the church is not connected with the Healing Ministry and the Deliverance Ministry, there are no new souls coming into the church. As a result, the same group of people are going through the same process of teachings over and over again.

As such this is not the church Christ brought to the world in the New Testament. But unfortunately, many Christians are stagnated in this nominal church without knowing the right calling of the New Testament.

Certain denominations try to bring new souls to their churches through the teaching ministry. But this is something difficult as the enemy always attacks these churches as they have not received the right authority by going through the right process.

Without Authority, No Gospel... Without Gospel, No Church according to the pattern given in the New Testament...
