Two Kinds of Peace - Part 2
(Romans 8:6)
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
A spiritually minded man thinks spiritually. Hence he acts differently than a carnal minded man. For instance, if somebody who has been in total peace with a carnally minded person, raises against him all of a sudden, naturally, this carnally minded person may find fault with this person who has raised against him as he has not done anything wrong to him.
However, a spiritually minded person would act differently in this situation. He would see the devil working though this man who is suddenly becoming aggressive toward him without a cause. Hence, he would not go against him by any means. Instead, he would enter into a spiritual battle with the devil in order to recover the relationship broken by the devil. Thus, he would avoid all kinds of unnecessary issues that the devil was planning to toss at him based on this situation.
How to become spiritually minded?
Well, if the carnal knowledge of a person can cause him to be carnally minded, the spiritual knowledge can make a person spiritually minded. Look at the below scripture:
(2 Peter 1:2)
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
The above verse reveals that it is the knowledge of God and of His Son, that can establish heavenly peace on the inside of the mind of man. But, how do we receive the knowledge of God?
Yes, the Word of God gives us the knowledge of God. When we meditate upon the Word of God consistently, we increase in the knowledge of God. When we increase in the knowledge of God, we start to think spiritually as our thinking is based on our knowledge of God. A man who entertains thoughts in mind based on the knowledge of God is said to be spiritually minded. A spiritually minded person enjoys heavenly peace right through his life irrespective of circumstances in the outside world.
Renewing Mind with the Word of God
It is very important to renew our mind with the Word of God day and night. This can be achieved by meditating upon the Word day and night. This is the only way to have success in any area of our life. This is the same advice God gave to Joshua when he asked God on how to be successful in bringing the Children of Israel to the promised land in the face of the failure of Moses to accomplish this task. Here is what God said to Joshua...
(Joshua 1:8)
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
How to meditate the Word of God day and night?
Is it possible for everyone to meditate upon the Word of God day and night? How can working people do it? How can busy mothers do it?
Well, the answer is that it is possible for every human under the sun to meditate upon the Word of God day and night. Yes, we realize it at the moment we understand what 'Meditating upon the Word of God' means.
Meditating the Word of God does not mean that you sit in front of the Bible and read and study the Word going through pages day and night. Nobody can do that. Even full time ministers cannot do it. Then what is really meant by meditating the Word of God day and night?
Let's imagine that you have to face a very important event in your life tomorrow. This event is so important that you never get this moment again for your lifetime. Nevertheless, you are forced to report for work today and go through the busy schedule as usual. You become extremely busy in the office today. I mean you become more busier than other days. But still, don't you think about your tomorrow's event from time to time while going through all your office work? Don't you entertain various thoughts in your mind about your important event while working with your clients, colleagues, superiors, subordinates and even with your big boss?
In the same way, all of us entertain different thoughts in our mind while doing our day-to-day work. But unfortunately, 99.9% of these thoughts are negative thoughts which make you feel sad and worried for the whole day. But still you continue to work the day without missing a single task that needs to be accomplished during the day.
Meditating the Word of God is the same exercise you and I have to do in our mind. Early morning, before entering the day, we can go through a passage in the Scripture and we can meditate upon it right through the rest of the day while doing our routine work. When we do this, our mind will not respond to any other thoughts that would make us worried. Thus, we begin to experience heavenly peace in our mind which keeps our hearts and minds from all worries.
(Philippians 4:7)
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
